Should you count calories?

I think everyone should count calories for one month just to get an understanding of what they are eating and see where they can make a healthier choices or alternative choices to suit their diet and goals.

The first time I track calories was not to try hit a certain target it was just to see how much I was eating and what my Protein carbs and fat intake was.

When I was tracking certain foods and weighing them in sometimes I would get a shock when noticing that that little small piece of food had an extremely high amount of calories but this just opened my eyes and made me realize how certain foods are much higher than we think.

This also worked in the opposite way when I was weighing say fruits and vegetables I noticed that their calories were much lower and I would feel fuller after eating them and the actual nutrients in them was much higher.

When we scan/weigh (or just read the back of the package) we get an understanding of the foods that were eating and we can actually see the data I think it encourages us to eat them more because we know the benefits.

Obviously food should not be seen as just data, it should be seen first of all as nutritious food and also it should be seen as energy but you should also enjoy it and also be flavorful.
